La Paz, Baja Sur, is a fascinating two-hour drive from the world-famous Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. La Paz is the great undiscovered fishing area of the Sea of Cortez. (Gulf of California). The Baja peninsula is over a thousand miles long. It begins just below San Diego and projects almost straight south into tropical waters. Cabo is located at the southern Pacific tip. La Paz, the capital of Baja Sur, is located on the opposite side of the narrow Baja peninsula. The inland sea is a gigantic fish trap. Here the waters are typically more calm, warmer, and are not fished as heavily as offshore of the Cabo area.
Fish are abundant throughout the inland sea, and fishing is available year-round. Whether it’s dorado, yellowtail, tuna, sailfish, wahoo, grouper, snapper, marlin, skipjack, roosterfish, sea bass, sierras, etc., La Paz is a premier spot for fishing these varieties. FURTHERMORE, the fishing areas we frequent are considered fully sustainable at current sports fishing levels! This is a huge difference from much of the world’s fishing locations.
